02.04.2008 - After a small hint by Jeff Schewe on the Lightroom U2U, Adobe are excited to announce the Lightroom v2.0 has been released as a Public Beta (following in the tradition from the original Public Beta).

Naturally there are major changes, but first the safety announcements! This is still a beta and not fully feature complete, you can't upgrade your 1.x Catalogs so it is advisable to test on a separate set of images (copies preferably!!!). Nothing is guaranteed to survive the full release.

YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED! :)

A quick overview of the new features:

Versions

The Windows version is available as a 64 bit separate download, the Mac version is both 32 bit and 64 bit. To enable 64 bit, find and select the Application, Get Info on the app, and uncheck Open in 32 Bit Mode

To be involved with the v2.0 Public Beta and to download the new version, head over to the Adobe Labs site http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/lightroom/

Improved Photoshop integration - open as Smart Object, merge Multiple images to Panoramas, merge to HDR, load multiple files or virtual copies as separate layers.
Improved Export functionality - output sharpening!
The prevous 10k pixel limit has been increased to 30k pixels per side.
